Quattro is unique in that it was the first AWD platform to adjust power from wheel to wheel as you drive. Now, the system utilizes a dual clutch that disconnects the back wheels during cruising to help bolster gas mileage. However, four-wheel power is but a fraction of a second away. If wheel slip is detected, a stationary prop shaft will bring the back wheels up to speed and provide the safety you crave.
